  • Overview

    Site based role. Supervising and managing de-veg operatives and sub contractors through the delivery of contracted works. Ensure works are conducted safely and in compliance with all health, safety & environmental legislation and best practices, and in accordance with all Railway Group, Network Rail and Stobart Rail Standards.

    Develop positive relationships with all parties associated with the project at a Site level and ensure that it is delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed quality whilst ensuring that client expectations regarding quality, programme and budget are wherever possible exceeded.

    The Site Supervisor will be acting as our on-site representative and will be expected to engage and manage sub-contractors and unexpected site visitors (Network Rail Technicians etc) in a professional manner.


    • Compile daily site reports, photos and all other daily paperwork and submit to project management team.
    • Ensure compliance with duties of Principal Contractor as defined in the CDM regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with the Company ‘Principal Contractors Licence when working on rail – when working as Principal Contractor.
    • To assist in the planning and creation of Method Statements / Risk assessments / Work Package Plans, Task Briefs, lift plans & ALO working plans
    • Carry out briefing of Method Statements / Risk assessments / Work Package Plans, Task Briefs, lift plans & ALO working plans to the required standard.
    • To carry out all on site checks as outlined in the PIC documentation pack – including the supervision and management of sub-contractor documents.
    • Ensure adequacy and competency of staff resources.
    • Implement, monitor and report contractor timekeeping, programme progression, performance, quality and safety culture.
    • To report back any competency shortfall to project management team.
    • To be able to oversee a team and make sure they work to a programme.
    • Responsible for implementing environmental, health and safety control including promotion of safety culture and ensuring that BBS (Behavioural Based Safety) practises are used on sites.
    • Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with the procedures laid down in the Railway Group and Company Standards when working on rail.
    • Implementation of the Company Emergency Plan.
    • Ensure all work is carried out to specification as outlined in the WPP.

    To obtain 3rd party access requirements and manage relationships lineside neighbours.


    • Competent and signed off in COSS.
    • NPTC qualifications in chainsaw and tree felling activities.  
    • IT skills including Word, Excel and other software packages as appropriate

    • CAT Scan & Genny; PA1 PA6, SRL Environmental Training, EFAW+F, ICI, OLEC3, IOSH, SMSTS.
    • First Aid
    • Arboricultural Association 2-day Arboricultural knowledge course – if this is not held it will be supplied on award of contract.
