  • Overview

    Primat are representing a client who are an independent Operator in the North Sea with a dynamic management team who have exciting growth plans to develop operations further both in the UKCS and internationally.


    Reporting to Asset Manager the Lead Electrical Engineer role is embedded within an onshore asset support team, focused in supporting the delivery of safe and reliable operations and provision of technical support to all operated assets. The successful candidate will be a proactive, delivery focused, highly skilled individual who can successfully manage multiple interfaces and work streams, provide innovative solutions and work independently when necessary.


    The successful candidate will be an electrical engineer experienced in both operations and design environments such that he/she can demonstrate an appropriate breadth & depth of knowledge for this role.


    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (Detailed Tasks & Responsibilities)


    Legislation, Procedures, SMS

    • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, industry standards, company procedures / policies and good engineering practice
    • Develop and maintain asset Performance Standards and Planned Maintenance Assurance routines
    • Manage relevant electrical Safety & Environmental Critical Elements, ensuring compliance with Performance Standards
    • Liaise with the regulator and ICP
    • Assist with maintenance of asset CAT 1 electrical documentation
    • Liaise with the Electrical TA on a regular basis, but able to manage the Electrical team without direct TA support.
    • Deputise for the Electrical TA when required.


    Asset Support

    • Provide expedient front line technical support and troubleshooting to the asset
    • Assist asset support engineers in the provision of expedient front line technical support and troubleshooting to assets
    • Provide technical guidance to asset support electrical engineers
    • Provision of checking facility for asset produced documentation
    • Support/deliver asset improvement/production optimisation plans
    • Input to and support of development of Operational Risk Assessments
    • Lead/participate in incident investigations and produce reports i.e. RCFA investigations for equipment failures
    • Contribute to and support asset shutdown plans ensuring electrical scopes are provided for
    • Identify opportunities and deliver enhancements to the safe & reliable operation of equipment, whilst ensuring production efficiency is maintained
    • Lead equipment reliability & availability studies with the aim of identifying sub-standard performance and develop improvement plans accordingly
    • Manage critical & operating spares with the aim of ensuring spares are available in support of planned & unplanned maintenance activities
    • Lead operations support studies e.g. obsolescence, spares

    • Electrical engineering in a supervisory capacity / team lead role
    • Provision of planned and reactive maintenance support to operating assets
    • Working within an Oil and Gas operator engineering environment
    • Identification and delivery of system/equipment enhancements
    • Shutdown preparation
    • Competent in operation of a Computer Maintenance Management System
    • Modification/project development stages from appraise to operate/close-out
    • Project supporting documents e.g. SoW, BoD, Engineering Workpacks for vendor and offshore work scopes.



    • Working knowledge of Maximo
    • Operations experience based offshore
    • Knowledge of drilling facilities and electrical systems.





    • Electrical engineering Masters or Bachelor’s degree.



    • CEng
    • Certification to travel offshore.
